Pardon My Interruption
Hunter Biden's larp'ing of a poor felon criminal would be somewhat charming if it wasn't so dumb
So I’m delivering this short post yet again in an effort to test the Substack algorithm. This is like four (five?) posts straight and I want to see how many (and what type of) posts generate visibility on Substack. So this post is short, I mean comparatively. Enjoy!
Pardon Daddy
Nepotism is a strong serum when you’re a political dynasty in U.S. Politics. What I mean is, it’s intoxicating and addicting for those families who drink from the cup. Absolute power corrupts absolutely? Something like that. Anyway this move by Biden is not a surprising one. When the next guy is already a convicted felon, you have to take away some of his thunder. I get it.
Biden pardoned his son, Hunter, for a myriad of convoluted reasons but mostly this: his son is a victim of the system and that mean ‘ole Dept of Justice. They1 are after his family, the President’s family.
From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted. Without aggravating factors like use in a crime, multiple purchases, or buying a weapon as a straw purchaser, people are almost never brought to trial on felony charges solely for how they filled out a gun form. Those who were late paying their taxes because of serious addictions, but paid them back subsequently with interest and penalties, are typically given non-criminal resolutions. It is clear that Hunter was treated differently.
Official Statement by the White House and President Biden
This basically translates to: yeah the DOJ got it wrong and I, as the chief executive of the system, do not have faith in said system. The POTUS just threw them allllllll under the bus.
Oh also this is a total dementia move.2 It is angry and a total lash-out-at-the-world moment that makes sense if you’re in the dementia-mind state of the person acting. Whatever it is, most of it cries of the parting salvo of a lame duck president’s inexplicable need to justify his “troubled” son. The “troubled” son that “publicly” made everyone aware he smoked crack years prior and then said he didn’t on his gun application. That’s pretty dumb.
There are countless visits to rehab. There are searches for crack in Nashville. There’s the 14-day bender during which he flipped one rental car and left his brother’s AG badge and a bunch of drugs in another. He learns to cook his own crack — and he does so — at Chateau Marmont, one of the many LA hotels that lost patience with Hunt’s party-loving entourage and suddenly didn’t have availability.

I mean, the irony here is that Hunter sort of takes being a criminal and otherwise cosplays with it. He does some crack, has a stripper girlfriend, then writes about it and makes a bunch of money. A few years later he decides to buy a gun, and predictably lies after otherwise sticking a big sign on his forehead stating he had smoked crack cocaine. He then gets out of having a felony all within a matter of a few years. He basically acts out the American criminal justice system just for funsises.
Jacket Immunity
The order issued by President Biden grants Hunter a pardon “for those offenses against the United States which he has committed or may have committed or taken part in during the period from January 1, 2014 through December 1, 2024.” What
also points out is that the pardon extends far beyond the date of his illegal firearms purchase which was in 2018.No, actually this covers his time while serving as a board member for Burisma Holdings. And yes, he was never charged with a crime during that time. Hunter Biden joined the board of Burisma in May 2014, less than three months after Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych was pushed from power and fled to Russia. Hunter’s business partner, Devon Archer, joined the firm earlier when the only red flag was the U.K. freezing a Burisma bank account holding $23 million amid suspicion of money laundering. Joe just gave Hunter blanket immunity for those crimes anyway.
So yeah, they are crooks. You can substitute “they” with anything else you would like in this scenario, because it is hard to see the “good” actors in all of this. The more alarming piece is that Federal prosecutors and the DOJ become the convenient scapegoat that America has so casually leaned into in the last 20 years. Go figure. For now, nepotism prevails.
Anyway, here’s Tubthumping.
substitute with anything really and have a lot of fun with a pick your adventure of conspiracies
